Women Who Wander Scholarship

My passion for cultures began in 2010 when I studied abroad in Costa Rica. I considered myself extremely lucky to not only have the opportunity to study abroad once, but twice. I learned so much about other cultures, but one of the things I discovered while abroad was how unique my Louisiana Creole culture is. The greatest lesson I learned was that you can only truly appreciate your culture when you learn and understand other cultures. In 2015, I created a scholarship called Women Who Wander. The scholarship funds a female Louisiana college student’s trip abroad. I partnered with Apres Lounge where we had an award ceremony and reception for the winner. I also partnered with Painting with a Twist to auction off hand-painted globes that they created. Lastly, I also partnered with an art gallery in New Orleans to display the globes, and worked with various travel companies to secure luggage and packing essentials for the winner.
